What is the Barzakh

According to  Sunni Aqidah  (Islamic creed), particularly the understanding upheld by  Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l-Jamā‘ah , the  Barzakh  is the “intermediate stage” between a person's death and the Day of Resurrection (Yawm al-Qiyāmah). It is a part of the unseen (ghayb`) world and forms a crucial component of Islamic creed.

Definition:

Barzakh literally means a barrier or partition. In Islamic theology, it refers to the stage after death where the soul exists until the resurrection.

Concept in Sunni Belief:

The Barzakh is not just a place, but a state of being in which the soul awaits judgment. It involves either comfort for the righteous or punishment for the sinful—what is known as Adhab al-Qabr (Punishment of the Grave).

And Allah know best.
